Changes to our shipping costs

Changes to our shipping costs

We've made some changes to how we charge for shipping and I just wanted to let you know about the reasons behind this.

Our charges are now in line with what we get charged by Royal Mail and DPD. We don't make money on shipping. So, we charge you what they charge us, with one exception.

In the past, we offered free shipping for orders where you spent more than £35. Following these changes, free shipping now kicks in for orders which contain more than 1kg of coffee.

Essentially, it's much the same from your perspective - in that to hit the free shipping threshold previously you also had to order over a kilo of beans. The move to weight-based (rather than order value-based) shipping charges means that you can now use your loyalty points vouchers without missing out on free shipping (as long as your order contains over 1kg of beans, it doesn't matter how much you are paying for them).

So, while we're here I'd like to explain why we offer free shipping at all. Obviously, we're trying to incentivise and reward you for ordering larger quantities of beans, less often. Although we make more money from our small, frequent orders (because you are covering the postage costs rather than us), we also end up using more packaging and our carbon footprint is larger because our delivery partners are covering more miles getting your coffee supply to you.

Of course, we want you to do whatever works out best for you - but by structuring our shipping costs in this way, we are trying to align getting the best value for you with getting closer to our goals around reducing our carbon footprint in 2020.

Please note: These prices apply only to UK addresses with the following exceptions:

Scottish Highlands and Islands, the Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Scilly Isles and Northern Ireland. We are not able to offer free DPD shipping to these destinations. DPD prices to these destinations vary but will be shown in your shopping cart when you enter your postcode into the shipping calculator. Royal Mail prices to these destinations are the same as for the rest of the UK.

We are now unable to ship to the Channel Islands.
