SCA Barista Course (Foundation Level)

No experience is required, although participants will find the course easier if they have some experience working in a coffee shop.

Course Content includes:

• - Coffee species and varietals - getting to know the differences.

• - Understanding the impact of coffee freshness

• - An overview of processing methods.

• -  Espresso machines & grinders - basic operational overview. 

• -  Espresso - an introduction to how espresso brewing works. 

• -  Grinder calibration

• -  Dosing, distribution and tamping techniques in espresso

• -  Introduction to milk steaming techniques

• -  Espresso-based drink components and construction

• -  Cleaning and maintenance of coffee brewing equipment

• -  Health & Safety considerations. 

This course lasts for seven hours and each cohort is up to 5 participants. Courses start at 10 am, and end around 5.30 pm. 

All our courses are conducted by fully accredited SCA trainers (knows as ASTs). you don't need to be a SCA member to take one of our SCA courses, but you will need to have a learner membership account with the SCA. It's quick, easy, and free to get one - see here.

Please note: Our course fees DO NOT include the SCA Course Enrolment Fee.

This is currently set at 50 EURO/USD. and needs to be paid directly to the SCA before attending the course. If you attend our course without paying the enrolment fee, you will be unable to sit the exam, or collect a certificate from the SCA.
