Aponte - Colombia

It's unusual to get honey processed coffee from Colombia and this one is delightful. It somehow manages to be clean and funky at the same time. There is gentle, blood orange-like acidity and just a hint of spice to keep things lively. Loving it.

This lot is produced by smallholders from an indigenous reserve in Aponte. Honey processed coffee, when done well, really does offer the best of both worlds. Big sweetness like you'd find in natural processed coffees, but with plenty of complexity too. This one is already proving to be a bit of a team favourite. Pretty sure you'll end up loving it too.

A very nice example of a honey processed coffee. It seems to be best as filter.

Thanks for the review Mark, much appreciated and great to hear you enjoyed the coffee.

Delicious

Lovely fresh and rich taste

Thanks Georgina. Don't tell anyone, but this is my favourite coffee right now. It's so delicious however I brew it. Thanks for leaving a review, much appreciated.

Complex and delicate

This coffee took a few attempts to dial in for a v60. Espresso and french press were really well rounded for this one too. Once I got the v60 grind right, it has such complex flavour with a nice citrus after taste. A nice pick me up for any time during the day.

Thanks for sharing your brewing experiences, Philip - much appreciated! We find this coffee to be a great all-rounder too - and brew it both as espresso and V60 in the coffee shop.

Vibrant. Sweet and easy to brew.

The whole experience of this coffee was great from espresso to clever dripper and aeropress. Beautiful flavours and great mouth feel. For espresso 17g in 37g out in 24-26 seconds gave me the best results. Bright upfront and sweet on the finish. Mouthfeel is great. Not super light but not very thick either. For aeropress I have used the James Hoffmann method. 1:15 ration quick brews.
Oh and this coffee makes amazing espresso tonic. 37g espresso poured over 120g of tonic with ice. Buy it with no regrets👌🏻

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review - it's so helpful for fellow coffee lovers to hear experience from passionate home baristas!
